DID YOU KNOW? In Australia, the typical excess on hire cars in most cases is a minimum of about $2,750. This can be reduced to a minimum of $330 for cars (More for 4WD) with an additional cost of about $25/day (The so called “excess reduction package” or “excess cover option”). So this is how the cost of your 1 day rental on a Hyundai Getz could pan out:

$40 - Advertised rental rate $20 - Taxes & Surcharges $25 - Excess Reduction ------ $85 – Total rate for 1 day hire!

 

As you can see in the above example, the advertised rate of $40/day is in actual fact going to cost you $85!! So at least if you have a holiday travel policy, you would at least do away with that additional $25 (per day!) as you’d be covered already!
