Scam warning
- we don't make unsolicited calls!
We have recently received a number emails and calls from the general public who claim to have been contacted by OzEscapes (or representatives thereof) offering a 'deal' on accommodation that we provide.
This is a typical account of what is on offer from the scammer:
1.It is OzEscapes 25th aniversary and you have been selected as one of the lucky 25 recipients from the state of NSW/QLD/VIC (etc) who can take up this offer.
2. OzEscapes will pay 95% and you as the lucky recipient, will only pay 5% of all accomadation costs (not including meals or airfares). The offer is available for 2 Adults and 2 Kids but any of your friends could also take up the offer.
3.You can stay anywhere in Australia at 5 star hotels and duration of stay can either be 15 consectutive days or any combination of datys up to 15 days in any 1 year..
4. You are assured that Oz Escapes is a very reputable company but you will hav e to use your credit card/visa card to secure this limited offer.
5. Pay 5% of $4,500 (somehow this adds up to $399) after which you will recieve a letter which would guarentee your stay anywhere, anytime, in one year.
Please note: THIS IS A COMPLETE SCAM. If anyone calls you reporting to be a representative of OzEscapes, please hang-up the phone. We don't make any marketing calls! The caller will usually have an American-Asian accent and will have the name of "Jennifer Martin", "Mark", "Ryan", etc. The quality of the call will be very bad too.
If their number does register on your phone, please forward this to us, so that we can pass it onto the ACCC.
